I caved in!! I'm doing it Myself.

I'm long overdue for a reTi. Each week I'd say 'next week I'll contact George'. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I've had to give having a consultant retighten my locs a miss, so I started reti-ing myself-I don't want my locs to fall out!! Most of my evenings are taking up with something, (which is the main time I'm able to go get it done). Not only that, cash for retite took a dive - pushed out by more pressing things. I might give myself another treat before christmas, meanwhile it's back to DIY. (You can see my empty cups of tea and coffee to sustain me).
So here are the pictures of my contortions trying to do the back.
Let's just say I'm taking my time. I do a little when I'm relaxing. My husband suggests I shd just retighten my locs all the time in teeny sections. Well, I'm not so sure about that. I mean those arms will need a rest sometime, dont you think? Also I'm thinking of a change with my locs(don't worry I'm not cutting). Just combing more of them. I want an easier life. I love micros but hey, it's not by force, or by hook or by crook to have them. All I want is locs small enough to not stress my scalp and give me fullness, but easy to maintain myself. We'll see. It's just hair right? NOT!!

To be honest I'd prob go if I could get out of the chair in 3 hrs or less. It would be worth squeezing money to go, but it takes several hours,so that's a big factor as I'm really short on time now.

As you know, I have been doing my own locs for almost 4 years. Yes it is time consuming, I have saved a ton of money! I know there are some who splurge on their hair. That's all good! I do not believe in spending money on somethings I can do myself. Any way, I splurge on shoes! I will spend money to style my locs, not to retighten.
You are doing a great job! Your hair looks so healthy and beautiful! I love your blog. I don't post much anymore, but I do lurk!

I'm about to take the retightening class myself, and I plan to be DIYer from that point on. We need to save the money, right?!

I don't know about you, but it takes me 2 1/2 hours to get to my consultant, and it takes her 2 to 3 hours to retighten my hair. Then, there's the ride home. Normally, I just stay for the weekend with my mom, rather than drive back and forth.

My point to this story is: If it takes less than the combined amount of time to go and get a retightening (8 hours) or equal to it, then it's worth doing it yourself in my book!

BTW, how long has it taken you to retighten your entire head?

Thandi, I haven't finished yet! Nubianlocked, THX. I loved loved your wedding pics. I want to see more. Your locs of course looked lovely. Terez, it takes me only 15 min to go get my locs done, but it takes several hours for my consultant bc he's just not fast. He did offer for 2 of them to work on my hair, but it's still the combination of factors such as time&money.

Moisture Maniac i got from TKmax, but seems to have been discontinued ( like most things I love!)
HOWEVER I have tried amazon, beware of delivery prices! they vary!
ALSO I have found Kemi oyl leave in conditioner, which I disliked originally but seems to be doing it for me now!
