5 Years locked

It's been 5 years since I got sisterlocked, 8 years since I first got locs, and 9 years since I went natural. My hair has been through a lot of changes. My routine is simple. Wash with a sulphate-free shampoo, Do a final rinse with diluted ACV every other week. Once in a while add baking soda to clarify. Ocassional diluted conditioner. Spritz with a lavender mist when I remember. I colour with Surya Henna cream 1x3 months (just the new growth). To be honest this winter my hair has mostly been under some sort of hair cover. I cut 1-2ins off a few months ago. Pictures to follow soon.

Thanks ladies. Yes I'm back. I've been neglecting this blog...but I will try to post more often. After a while you get to thinking nobody wants to know what's going to with your hair anymore...

Thanks for the blog Ofo.

One question -- why do you only cover new growth with henna?

Also I haven't used Surya henna is it easier that the powder henna?

We do!! Especially as those we began the journey with have become few and far between! I know my time has been taken up a LOT, however I revisit pages to help me chill out!
Need to read about your year 4 to 5 experiences...

Anon, Surya henna is premixed henna with added essential oils, natural pigments and herb extracts to give a semi-permenant hair dye. It moisturises and conditions your scalp and hair. Does not contain ammonia, peroxide, heavy metals, parabens, ppd, resorcinol,so it's as close to natural as you can get without using henna powder itself. I dye my new growth only because 1.) It saves me buying 2-3 boxes saving a bit of money. 2.)The rest of my hair is dark enough. 3.) The new growth takes the dye better and I will have less issues of gunk trapped in locs. It's actually creamy/liquidy with no bits in.
