This is what I'm calling a loc hair-filler or add-on. In other words it will fill in a thin area or add fullness to your locs. You may remember I blogged some time ago about getting a loc piece from endless creations. I used it just a handful of times, but stopped using it b'cos I felt it was waaay too big. The piece Gerry made was generic, seeing I wasn't there in person to have it more accurately fitted for me. I found it too big too bulky and it had 3 to 4 x more locs than I needed or wanted. (She did warn that I would have to remove some locs.) So I chopped it in half then halved it again like you slit a hotdog in half. I just about destroyed the piece after I had done this. So I've gradually rebuilt it to the actual size I want. I can tell you right now, that even a loc piece this small is a lot of work to make. I have still got some finishing touches to make on it before I attempt to wear it. The whole point of it is to seamlessly intergrate it with your own locs(by passing your existing locs through the holes in the net to secure it) so that no one is any the wiser. I also have another idea for making small loc braids/links that can cover bald temples. I don't need that myself, but hey it might help someone! Anyway, I'm working on it.

Keep working sis, great stuff.
For a moment there, i thought perhaps you had cut off two headed dragons and got creative.
Haha! Nubian, there will be some real locs from 2 headers on the piece soon. I haven't gotten round to cutting them yet.
Much like Nubian1 I thought these were locs you'd either lost or cut. (I actually held my breath as I clicked into the link)
It's good to know that this is a "piece". I may have to do the same myself, thanks for the inspiration.
I am curios to know is the Gerry piece that you bought was it affordable? I have seen her site & considered letting her make me one it is good to know that I wouldnt have to travel to her to have it fitted thanks so much
Euphoria, it cost about $250. It was BIG, 2-3x bigger than I needed, but very well made. It was a generic piece cos I couldn't be there to be fitted. If you can go to the lady you'll get a proper fit and may not pay as much. You have to send her one of your locs,so she can match your colour.
WOW!!! I've really been out of the loop for a while. I think this is awesome for those of us who have some thinning areas. Though the price is too steep for me at the moment, I'm sure it's worth it! It's lock weave! I Love It!!
thanks so much for the info
Exactly meimeika - a loc weave or filler. A great idea. Some ladies balk at locking bc they don't know to cover exposed areas. It can be used as a temporary fix while your own hair grows in, to cover thin patches, provide additional locs needed or to add colour/highlights without colouring your hair! And I ought to get commision from Gerry for pitching like this hahaha! But seriously, anything that will help our sistas is good.
You're welcome Euphoria.
Hey Anthia - I read this on my phone aaaaaaaaaaaages ago so couldn't comment earlier but what I was gonna say was... maybe you should stick the bits you dont want together and give it to me! I'll pay you *grin*
Gerry couldn't help me because I have no hair to attach it to :( but it would be soooooooooooo amazing if, if... you know!
xx
Bajan, how about a sisterlock wig? I've thought about it, but so far, don't know exactly what it will involve to attempt to make one or where to get the raw materials. Doesnt Gerry make wigs? A lady on one of the loc boards was considering hsving a wig made. If find out anymore about it, there'll be another blog post.
Now that sounds cool. I just figured it was impossible (given the parting and sizing etc). Maybe this is your challenge for 2011 - you make it and I pay you for it (LOL) - although I would pay you :)
Congrats again on your daughter's wedding and thanks again for blessing me from afar xx
