when is sisterlocks not sisterlocks?

This argument comes round regularly, maybe every year. I think the prevailing thought on LIU was - the tool does not matter, it's the pattern and partings that count. Which is a pretty sensible view to take. Some even use their FINGERS. Someone strongly disagreed insisting that any deviation from what the founder intended, no matter how slight is FRAUD! Wow! I just hope they will always have access to all SL products at ALL times, never experience a medical problem that forces her to use a different tool or hair-loss which could result in a small deviation from the norm, Or finds herself in a location where you can't access SL stuff, SL class, you don't have the official tool or strapped for cash. Some consultants have had to use tools other than sls tool due to medical problems, others have found they're just more comfortable with the NL tool. Not to mention the SL wearers across the ocean. More than one of us have had to find other products to substitute SL ones, as well as DIY with other tools even while checking with in SL consultants every now and again. Never say never, cos next thing you know you're in the soup.
Oh well, to each her own, as they say.....

There is a saying that goes "a bad workman always blames his tools ..."
What I got from this proverb is that the tool in and of itself is a means to an end, it itself can do nothing without the hand that guides it. In other words if the loc comes out wrong the tool cannot be blamed as I was the force behind it ... I saw that little tete a tete too, well watch my space, I am about to go THERE ... tee hee hee.

LOL,ITA!!!I couldn't have said it better myself. Those who wish to be bound by Man's 'edict' can stay strictly within the bounds. Others wish to be free to pick and choose ....if you catch my drift. Sooner or later those within the bounds will faced with the dilema of tailoring things slightly to suit them or fall under their own condemnation. Haha! I sound just like a preacher, sis but I know you understand.

Sisters don't get me started! If I took it to heart I would think I don't have sisterlocks... Whatever!
Both of you have said 'it' well. I wish the tool was available for diyers (especially those outside the Us) but since it isn't I do what I have to and that shouldn't automatically mean I no longer have SLs...

Bajan, I can almost guarantee, every SL wearer has at some point, touched their locs with something(fingers, tools etc) other than SL Tools/products & what have you. But folks trying to pretend....
I mean, what if you're away from home, without your SL tool and, no consultant available you see a loc hanging by a thread? You leave the poor thing to die, or you come up with on-the-spot DIY/ repair(fingers hairpin whatever..). Adhering rigidly isn't possible in the real world.
