I've been doing the no-shampoo, no soap routine. I find it a little disconcerting to have no suds when washing my hair, but it works. However, I overdid things a little at my last wash. I used too much baking soda. My hair feels so dry and wiry. Anyone got some advice? Dare I use some diluted conditioner? Many of my locs aren't locked yet. Meanwhile,I discovered ORGANIX Teatree Mint shampoo whilst shopping in BOOTS. It contains no sulphates, so I was sold. It's smells, lovely with just the right amount of 'tingle' factor. But I'm torn between this and NIOXIN shampoo. Nioxin is specifically for thin/thinning hair. It contains ingredients supposed to create the right enviroment that allows your hair to grow. I used it early on, but gave it up in order to allow my locs to settle. I like everything except for the sodium lauryl sulphate. But I want to give it another go. Do the benefits outweigh the potential risks? I may give it a few weeks and re-evaluate. Or can I use both? What do you think? As you can see, I love trying new things, but I always return to the old 'faithfuls'.

Try a long rinse with hot water and then another with cool water. Also maybe spritz with just water 2-3 times everyday and an ACV rinse. I've heard that baking soda is more on the alkaline side of the line so the ACV may help bring your hair back into balance.
Yep, not much baking soda is needed. I use 1 tbs to 2 cups water. Add just a bit of your favorite shampoo to that mixture and you'll have some sudsing action.
Hope that helps and you restore the softness to your hair.
Thanks for the tips msfullroller. I've done an ACV rinse, but it's not enough. I'll try rinsing with Hot and cold water and spritzing more.
i've used the organix line in the past. i like it. all their stuff smells heavenly. i still water down any shampoo i use so its like 60 percent shampoo, 40 percent water. and any conditioner i use, i water down even more. whenever my locs feel hard and wiry, i do a co-wash (use just conditioner) and make sure i also use some sort of leave in as well. i don't know if you have that option yet with your babies, but i hope this helps!
ITA Lily, I dilute all my products too. I've been spritzing a lot with diluted knotty boys coconutty leave-in and its helped a lot. I'm planning to do a diluted conditioner rinse tonight. I learned a real lesson about baking powder-use sparingly!
I don't know how crazy this sounds but what about combining both in a small bottle...?
